# License scope / Escopo das licenças

Copyright (c) 2026 Diego Tavares Volpatto, for original contributions and only to the extent of rights held by the author.

This repository contains differently licensed materials. It is not a choice between MIT and CC BY for every file. These notices apply equally to the Portuguese and English versions and to the generated website.

## Website implementation - MIT

Original functional code, build/deployment configuration and scripts are licensed under the [MIT License](public/licenses/MIT.txt). This includes `tests/`, `.github/`, the root configuration files and the author's original code and configuration in `cv/`. SciAstro supplies the website components and styles under its [MIT license](public/licenses/SciAstro-MIT.txt).

Original developer documentation explaining how to build, maintain and deploy that code is also covered by MIT. Third-party notices, license documents and upstream template portions retain their own terms.

Editorial text embedded in a source file is covered by the content license below rather than being relicensed as software. Likewise, MIT does not apply to images or documents simply because they are included in this repository.

## Original editorial text - CC BY 4.0

Original editorial text authored for the website, including the biography, research descriptions, teaching descriptions, software descriptions, collaboration descriptions, image captions and their editorial translations, is licensed under [Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International](public/licenses/CC-BY-4.0.txt).

This grant applies to the author's rights in that wording wherever it appears, including strings embedded in `.astro`, `.ts` and configuration files. It does not extend to third-party excerpts, article/thesis titles, third-party contributions or facts that are not subject to copyright.

When sharing or adapting that text, credit Diego Tavares Volpatto, identify/link the source page and the license, and indicate modifications as required by CC BY 4.0. A suggested credit is: “Diego Tavares Volpatto, academic website, CC BY 4.0” with a link to the source and a description of changes where applicable. This example does not impose additional conditions beyond the license.

## Exceptions — separate terms

The grants above exclude all photographs, logos, marks, institutional symbols, scientific figures, downloadable documents (including the PDF CV), font files, third-party software and third-party material. In particular, **`public/images/`, `public/favicon.svg` and `public/files/` are not covered by this website's general MIT or CC BY grants**. Fonts bundled into `dist/` retain their upstream font licenses.

See [THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md](THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md) for item-level sources, credits and terms. An excluded figure may have its own CC BY license from its original authors; that separate grant is preserved, not replaced. No permission over trademarks, personality rights or rights held by others is implied. Uses allowed independently by law remain unaffected.

The legal texts and upstream notices under `public/licenses/` retain their own status; they are included to communicate terms, not relicensed as editorial content.

The brand icons in `public/images/icons/` retain the Academicons OFL 1.1 (Lattes) and Font Awesome CC BY 4.0 (GitHub, ORCID, LinkedIn, Google Scholar, ResearchGate) terms. Interface icons supplied by SciAstro retain the [Lucide license notices](public/licenses/SciAstro-icons.txt). Brand and flag assets under `public/images/` retain the item-level terms recorded in `THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`.
